Amazon Offers U.S. Federal Agencies up to $1 Billion in Cloud Discounts and AI Partnerships Through 2028
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has entered into a partnership with the General Services Administration (GSA) to offer U.S. federal agencies up to $1 billion in discounts for cloud adoption, modernization, and training through 2028. This was announced by the GSA on Thursday.
The collaboration aims to expedite the transition of government services to the cloud, as well as boost the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The GSA highlighted that this partnership underscores a joint public-private commitment to strengthening America’s AI leadership.
In a statement, AWS’s cloud head Matt Garman described the agreement as a “significant milestone in the large-scale digital transformation of government services.”
The discounts extend across various federal agencies and include AWS’s cloud infrastructure, modernization programs, training services, and incentives for strategic partnerships.
Last month, the GSA also announced a similar deal with cloud competitor Oracle. Additionally, on Wednesday, the GSA reached an agreement with OpenAI that grants federal agencies access to ChatGPT at a cost of $1 through the next year.
