Wimbledon Champion Elena Rybakina’s Coach Stefano Vukov Cleared by WTA Tour After Code of Conduct Investigation

Elena Rybakina’s coach, Stefano Vukov, has been reinstated by the WTA Tour following a suspension related to an alleged breach of its code of conduct. The provisional suspension was imposed in January during an investigation conducted by the tour. The investigation concluded in February, with the ban remaining in effect without specifying its duration.

The WTA issued a statement on Friday confirming that Vukov would once more be granted credentials granting him access to player zones and practice courts at WTA events. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a secure and respectful environment for all athletes and participants, as outlined in its Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Code.

The WTA further clarified that any penalties issued following a breach of these safeguarding rules are thoroughly considered and subject to appeal before an independent tribunal. While the details of the case remain confidential, it was stated that Mr. Vukov is now eligible to receive credentials for WTA events.

The New York Times initially reported the lifting of Vukov’s ban.

Prior to last year’s US Open, Rybakina announced that Vukov would no longer be her coach. However, she later stated before the Australian Open that he would rejoin her team. She maintains that he has never mistreated her during their professional relationship.

Currently ranked No. 10 on the WTA Tour, Rybakina recently advanced to the semifinals of the National Bank Open in Montreal before being defeated by Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko, who eventually claimed the title.
