Tencent Sees 15% Revenue Growth in Q2 2025 Due to Strong Gaming Performance and AI Investments

Tencent recorded a 15% increase in Q2 revenue, with robust performance in gaming and AI investments driving growth. Here’s a breakdown of Tencent’s Q2 2025 performance:

The domestic games division, which encompasses sales from China, experienced a 17% year-on-year surge to reach 40.4 billion yuan. This upward trend can be attributed to the success of the newly-launched “Delta Force” game and enduring hits like “Honor of Kings,” “VALORANT,” and “Peacekeeper Elite.”

In a Q2 2025 earnings release, Tencent CEO Ma Huateng stated, “We achieved double-digit revenue and non-IFRS operating profit growth year-on-year due to our strategic investments in AI.”

Tencent’s capital expenditure rose significantly by 119% to reach 19.1 billion yuan in Q2, as the company allocated resources for AI advancements across advertising, gaming, and social media service Weixin.

Huateng further explained, “Our aim is to leverage AI to deliver enhanced benefits to consumers and businesses by powering more use cases within Weixin, increasing adoption of our AI native app Yuanbao, and upgrading the capabilities of our HunYuan foundation models.”
