Melania Trump’s Legal Threat Against Hunter Biden Over Jeffrey Epstein Claims: A Battle of Defamatory Statements and Counter-Suits
In an interview on Fox News radio Thursday morning, President Donald Trump confirmed that Melania Trump’s legal team is pursuing action against Hunter Biden, stating he advised them to proceed.
“I’ve had success with lawsuits recently,” Trump told host Brian Kilmeade. “I said, go ahead. There’s no connection between Melania and me meeting Jeffrey Epstein. However, they continue to fabricate stories.”
The impending legal action stems from comments Biden made during a YouTube interview regarding the Trumps’ relationship with Epstein. According to the journalist who conducted the interview and a copy of the attorney letter obtained by Fox News, the matter revolves around Biden’s assertions about this connection.
Andrew Callaghan, host of the YouTube series Channel 5, announced on his channel that he had received a legal notice from Melania Trump requesting a retraction of a video from last week, which currently has over 1.3 million views. The First Lady is seeking $1 billion in damages if the video remains up and is also demanding an apology from Hunter Biden.
During a follow-up interview with Biden posted on Thursday, Callaghan revealed he was holding a legal demand letter addressed to Biden from Melania Trump, requesting a retraction of Channel 5’s ‘Hunter Biden returns’ video, in which Biden made certain comments about the relationship between Epstein, Melania Trump, and Donald Trump.
Fox News also posted a copy of a letter, sent to Hunter Biden and his lawyer, that demanded a retraction of the allegedly false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements made about Melania Trump during the YouTube interview.
In response to queries about the letter, a spokesperson for Melania Trump stated, “First Lady Melania Trump’s legal team is working diligently to secure immediate retractions and apologies from those who spread false, defamatory allegations. The true account of how the First Lady met President Trump can be found in her best-selling book, ‘Melania.'”
In a subsequent video interview posted on August 14, Hunter Biden responded defiantly to the request for an apology, saying, “That’s not happening.”
The legal demands center around an August 5 video from Callaghan’s show, during which Hunter Biden spoke about the Trumps’ relationship with Epstein, citing Michael Wolff. In his latest interview with Hunter Biden, the two discussed the legal demand from Melania Trump, and Biden suggested it could result in the president and first lady clarifying their relationship with Epstein through a deposition.
“I have this to say to them: If they want to sit down for a deposition and clarify the nature of the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein—if the president and the first lady are willing to do that, along with all their known associates at the time—whatever that time may be—I’m more than ready to provide them the platform to do so,” Biden said in the interview released on Thursday.
“The facts of the matter are that I don’t believe these threats of a lawsuit amount to anything other than an attempt at distraction, because it’s not about who introduced whom to whom. I’m unsure how that in any way constitutes defamation to begin with,” Biden added.
