Multiple Shooters on the Loose after Deadly Brooklyn Nightclub Shooting, NYPD Seeking Suspects

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a shooting at Taste of the City lounge in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood left three individuals dead and eight others wounded.

The incident occurred around 3:30 AM, with multiple emergency calls reporting gunfire within the crowded establishment. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered eleven gunshot victims inside the venue.

According to New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the deceased individuals included a 27-year-old man, a 35-year-old man, and an unidentified male victim. The remaining victims, consisting of eight males and three females aged between 27 and 61, were rushed to nearby hospitals, although their current conditions remain undisclosed as of Sunday morning.

At the scene, detectives discovered at least 36 spent shell casings and a firearm nearby. Efforts are ongoing to determine if the weapon is connected to the shooting incident. Authorities believe multiple shooters were involved in the altercation, and no suspects have been apprehended as of this report.

Taste of the City offers food, beverages, hookah, and entertainment to the local Crown Heights community. Commissioner Tisch described the shooting as an “anomaly,” given the city’s historically low number of shooting incidents and victims seven months into the year.

However, this latest incident follows a series of shootings in New York City this summer, including a shooting in Times Square earlier in the month that injured three individuals and a high-profile shooting in a Manhattan skyscraper that resulted in four fatalities in July.

This year alone, there have been 272 mass shootings across the United States, as per data from the Gun Violence Archive. Their definition of a mass shooting includes incidents where at least four people are injured, excluding the perpetrator.
