Prince William and Kate Middleton to Move into New Home in Windsor, Following Cancer Diagnosis Recovery

The Royal Family of Wales is poised for a change of residence later this year, relocating to the Forest Lodge in Windsor.

Prince William and Princess Kate, accompanied by their children George, Charlotte, and Louis, will make the move to the eight-bedroom property nestled within the verdant Windsor Great Park, as reported by Britain’s PA Media news agency.

A spokesperson from Kensington Palace confirmed the relocation, stating, “The Wales family will move house later this year.” The family’s current residence at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor is conveniently close to their new abode.

CNN has sought comment from Kensington Palace regarding the family’s relocation plans.

Recently, permission was granted for minor internal and external modifications at Forest Lodge, according to PA, citing redacted planning applications submitted to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The decision notice mentions the removal of a window and works on a fireplace, with PA adding that the lodge underwent a £1.5 million ($2 million) restoration in 2001.

Historical photographs from within the residence showcase its original stonework, intricate plaster cornices, and ceiling decoration, as reported by PA.

This is not the first time the family has resided in a new home. In August 2022, it was announced that the couple, then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were planning to relocate their family away from London during school term times, with the aim of providing their children with a more ordinary family life, as per a royal source.

The most recent move comes after a challenging period for the family, following Kate’s public revelation of her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment in March 2023. During her treatment, she took a step back from public engagements, making only a few appearances over the summer. In September, she announced that she had completed chemotherapy and was focused on maintaining her cancer-free status.
