Norway’s Crown Princess Son Indicted on Multiple Charges, Including Rape: Trial Anticipated in January
In Oslo, prosecutors have indicted Marius Borg Høiby, the elder son of Norway’s crown princess, on multiple charges including rape following an extensive investigation. The allegations span a range of offenses, including sexual abuse, violence, and making death threats, with 32 counts detailed in the Oslo district court indictment.
Sturla Henriksbø, the state attorney, stated that if convicted, Høiby could face up to ten years in prison. The alleged incidents involve multiple former partners, with acts of violence and abuse within a close relationship being among the charges. Additionally, lesser offenses such as traffic violations are also part of the indictment.
Høiby, who is 28 years old, holds no royal title or official duties. He has been under scrutiny since his repeated arrests last year on various allegations of misconduct. At present, he remains free pending trial, with Henriksbø citing insufficient grounds for arrest and imprisonment.
The trial is expected to commence in mid-January and may last approximately six weeks, according to the state attorney’s report. Petar Sekulic, Høiby’s defense attorney, has responded to the indictment by asserting that his client denies all charges of sexual abuse, as well as the majority of the charges regarding violence. He further stated that Høiby will provide a comprehensive account of his perspective during the court proceedings.
In response to these developments, the royal palace reiterated that the legal system is responsible for handling the case and reaching a verdict, offering no additional comments on the matter.
