Exploring the Complicated Legacy of Grey Wolf Reintroduction in Yellowstone National Park
In 1995, Yellowstone National Park witnessed the return of grey wolves as part of an ambitious ecological restoration project. The objective was to control the burgeoning elk population, whose grazing had significantly impacted the park’s vegetation. Now, thirty years later, we delve into the transformations within the Yellowstone ecosystem post-wolf reintroduction and scrutinize whether these changes can solely be attributed to wolves.
Furthermore, this study also examines the potential influence of the legacy narrative surrounding Yellowstone’s wolves on future wolf reintroduction initiatives elsewhere.
