Breaking: Self-Inflicted Shooter Dead at Minnesota Catholic School; Community Mourns Latest Act of U.S. Gun Violence

A suspect involved in a fatal shooting at a Catholic school in Minnesota has been confirmed dead, according to two law enforcement sources. The incident took place during the first week of classes at Annunciation Catholic School, which caters to students from preschool to eighth grade in southern Minneapolis, making it the latest community affected by the persistent gun violence in the United States.

The exact circumstances and extent of any injuries remain unclear, with authorities scheduled to hold a press conference later this morning. The shooter was reportedly contained by 9:30 am local time, with the city of Minneapolis confirming via a social media post that there is currently no active threat to the community. Residents are urged to stay away from the area to allow emergency services to tend to victims.

Governor Tim Walz expressed his condolences, stating that he had been briefed on the shooting and would provide updates as more information becomes available. He also conveyed prayers for the affected children, teachers, and their families. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the State Patrol are currently at the scene.

President Donald Trump has also been briefed on the matter, expressing sympathy via his social media platform, Truth Social, describing it as a “tragic shooting.” He urged others to join him in prayers for those involved.

Agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have also responded to the scene. Hennepin Healthcare, a level 1 trauma center, has confirmed that it is treating patients from the morning’s shooting incident.

Senator Amy Klobuchar, representing Minnesota, expressed her sadness on social media, offering prayers for the students, teachers, and families affected, as well as gratitude to the first responders present at the scene.
