Sex Toy Thrown at WNBA Game Prompts Outrage from Players and Calls for Better Arena Security

In an unsettling turn of events, two WNBA games this week were disrupted due to objects resembling sex toys being hurled onto the court from spectators.

During the third quarter of the Golden State Valkyries’ 73-66 victory over the Chicago Sky on Friday night at Wintrust Arena, a vibrant green object originated from the stands and landed out of bounds near one of the baskets. The game was momentarily halted, allowing an official to swiftly kick the item off the court, where it was collected with a towel and promptly removed.

Chicago Sky center Elizabeth Williams expressed her dismay post-game, stating, “It’s incredibly disrespectful. I can’t fathom the intention behind such an action. It’s utterly juvenile. Whoever is responsible needs to mature.”

The disturbing incident mirrors a similar occurrence just three days prior during the Valkyries’ 77-75 victory over the Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia.

In response to Friday’s recurrence, several WNBA players took to social media platforms to voice their concerns and call for heightened arena security. New York Liberty forward Isabelle Harrison voiced her sentiments on X, saying, “Arena Security?! Hello??! Please do better. It’s not amusing. Never was amusing. Throwing ANYTHING onto the court is hazardous.”

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham shared similar sentiments, writing, “Stop launching dildos on the court… you’re putting one of us at risk.”

As of this report, the WNBA has yet to issue a statement regarding the incidents.
