Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Team Reaches Out to Trump Administration for Potential Pardon Following Prostitution Conviction

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team, including Nicole Westmoreland, has reportedly reached out to the Trump administration regarding a potential pardon following the music mogul’s conviction on two charges of engaging in prostitution earlier this month. During an exclusive interview with CNN, Westmoreland confirmed that conversations have taken place about a possible presidential pardon.

However, President Trump indicated during a recent interview with Newsmax that he is unlikely to grant Combs a pardon, stating that the two had been friendly but that Combs was hostile towards him during his presidential campaign. Trump also noted that this makes it more challenging to issue a pardon.

When asked about Combs’ perspective on the possibility of a pardon following Trump’s comments, Westmoreland said that the hip-hop mogul remains hopeful. The White House has declined to comment on the existence or nonexistence of any clemency request.

Last month, a jury convicted Combs on two lesser charges of engaging in prostitution and acquitted him of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy (RICO) and sex trafficking. Although he was facing a potential life sentence, Combs now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The prosecution has not yet specified the sentence they will pursue, but had previously suggested that Combs could face a minimum sentence of 51 to 63 months (approximately four to five years) in prison.

During the two-month trial, Combs’ defense team focused on questioning and discrediting prosecution witnesses while presenting a 30-minute case without calling any witnesses themselves. Westmoreland stated that their strategy was simply to tell the truth, believing that it would result in an acquittal for Combs. She also expressed her belief that the government should not have brought the case against Combs and that they continued prosecuting despite knowing there was no evidence of sex trafficking or RICO.

Prosecutors accused Combs of leading a criminal enterprise involving some of his closest employees, alleging that they used threats, violence, forced labor, bribery, and other crimes to force women into engaging in drug-fueled sex acts with male escorts called “Freak Offs” or “hotel nights.”

Combs has been held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. A judge has denied multiple bail requests, and a motion is pending asking for Combs to be fully acquitted or granted a new trial. Other witnesses in the case have written letters to the judge requesting that he remain incarcerated out of fear for their safety if Combs were released before his sentencing, while one former girlfriend wrote a letter in support of granting him bail.

Combs’ sentencing is currently scheduled for October 3.
