Kelly Clarkson Postpones Las Vegas Residency Indefinitely Following Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock’s Death from Cancer
Acclaimed artist Kelly Clarkson has postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas residency to focus on her children following the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. On Thursday, a family representative confirmed that Blackstock died after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Clarkson revealed in a heartfelt statement, “Given my children’s father’s recent health challenges, I find it necessary to be fully present for them at this time. I deeply apologize to everyone who has purchased tickets for the upcoming shows and appreciate your understanding and compassion.”
Originally scheduled to commence an 18-show residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in July, Clarkson initially delayed the start due to vocal concerns. She eventually performed the first show a week later. The residency was intended to run through November 15.
Clarkson and Blackstock are parents to daughter River, born in 2014, and son Remington, or Remy, born in 2016. Their romantic journey began at Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012, leading to their marriage the following year. In 2019, Clarkson filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” The high-profile divorce proceedings concluded in 2022.
