Megadeth Announces Farewell Tour and Final Album Release in 2026 – Founder Dave Mustaine Reflects on Career and Legacy

In an emotional statement, legendary thrash metal band Megadeth has announced that their forthcoming album will mark the end of their illustrious career. The group, led by founder and frontman Dave Mustaine, has also unveiled plans for a farewell tour set to commence in 2026.

Mustaine acknowledged the countless musicians who have reached the conclusion of their artistic journey, whether it be through choice or circumstance. “I find myself at a point in life where I am privileged to bid adieu on my own terms and at the pinnacle of success,” he shared. “The most challenging aspect of this decision is parting ways with our devoted fanbase.”

As of now, details regarding the final album’s title, release date, and tour dates remain undisclosed. Mustaine expressed his belief that the time is ripe for the band to release their swansong album and embark on a farewell tour.

His heartfelt statement continued, with Mustaine expressing gratitude towards fans for the extraordinary journey they have shared together. “I invite you all to join me in celebrating these upcoming years. We have achieved something remarkable that may never be repeated,” he wrote. “We spearheaded a distinctive musical style, sparked a revolution, reshaped the guitar landscape, and left an indelible mark on the world. The bands I led have inspired generations worldwide. I am eternally grateful for your support.”

The announcement follows a cryptic teaser post shared by Megadeth on Wednesday that simply read “The end is near…”

Established in 1983 after Mustaine’s departure from Metallica, a band he co-founded, Megadeth released their debut album in 1985 titled “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!”.
