Powerball Jackpot Soars to Record-Breaking $700 Million, Largest since May 2025
The Powerball jackpot has soared to an estimated $700 million after no winner emerged during Wednesday’s drawing, surpassing its previous high of $643 million. This monumental prize is among the largest in Powerball’s history, with the last winnerless draw dating back to May 31.
Data from the Multi-State Lottery Association reveals a 40% increase in Powerball ticket sales compared to this time last year. The association anticipates these figures will rise further as the jackpot ascends.
Despite the escalating jackpot and ticket sales, the odds of winning the top prize remain unaltered, standing at approximately 1 in 292 million.
Should a victor emerge in the upcoming drawing, they will have the option to receive either the jackpot sum distributed over 30 annual payments or a one-time cash payment of around $316.3 million.
The next draw is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. on Saturday.
The record-breaking US lottery jackpot was $2.04 billion, claimed by a single ticket in Altadena, California, on November 7, 2022. This article has been updated with fresh information.
