Four SNL Cast Members Exit, Paving Way for New Talent in Upcoming Season 51
Notable departures from “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) continue, with Heidi Gardner and Michael Longfellow set to exit the sketch comedy series. After eight seasons, Gardner, known for her portrayal of neurotic and memorable characters such as every boxer’s girlfriend in every boxing movie, is parting ways. Longfellow, who spent three seasons on SNL, is also leaving the show.
Representatives for both Gardner and Longfellow, along with SNL, have been contacted for comment regarding their departures.
The announcements follow earlier news of Devon Walker and Emil Wakim leaving the show. On Monday, Walker shared on Instagram that his time at SNL was sometimes challenging, likening it to a “toxic” environment. He also described his tenure as a “little marriage,” expressing gratitude for the three years spent together.
Two days later, Wakim announced his departure via Instagram, expressing gratitude despite the difficult decision to leave. Wakim was on SNL for one season.
Leaving and joining cast members are common before each new season of SNL. Last week, Lorne Michaels, creator and overseer of SNL, hinted at significant changes to the cast, with announcements of new members expected soon.
SNL’s 51st season is set to premiere on October 4, as per NBC.
