Graphic Footage of Hamas Attack on Israeli Family Released by Netanyahu Amidst Gaza City Assault Controversy

In an unprecedented move, Israel has shared footage from a Hamas-led attack that occurred on October 7, with world leaders, diplomats, and journalists. The video depicts the assault on the Taasa family’s home in Netiv HaAsara, a community located north of Gaza.

The video, which lasts approximately 45 minutes, is a compilation of clips from the terrorist attack. While it has been shown to influential figures, it was not publicly released until Friday evening.

In the video made available, Sabine Taasa – who lost her husband and eldest son in the attack – stands beside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he introduces the clip. Netanyahu urges: “We’ll destroy Hamas, we’ll bring our hostages home, because we remember October 7, and so should you.”

The footage begins with Gil Taasa rushing his sons into a bomb shelter in the backyard of their home. Moments later, a Hamas militant hurls a grenade at the shelter, resulting in its explosion. The body of Gil Taasa is then seen falling to the ground.

Dressed only in their underwear, the two boys are moved into the family’s blood-splattered kitchen. As a Hamas fighter enters the kitchen, one boy pleads, “Please, please, please. Let me go home!” before breaking down and crying, “My dad! My dad!”

The militant then offers the boys juice or wine from the refrigerator. The boy responds by expressing his desire for his mother, after which the militant exits with a bottle of Coca-Cola.

In light of the family’s wishes, the Israeli government has requested that media outlets refrain from broadcasting or distributing the clip within Israel.

The release of this video comes at a time when Israel is facing intense international criticism over its planned operation in Gaza City and following a United Nations-backed declaration of a famine in northern Gaza, which occurred just days prior. The older brother of the two boys was killed early on October 7 as he headed to the beach for a fishing trip with friends.
